The Richmond City Code outlines the requirements for building in the Residential districts.

OVER THE COUNTER PERMITS: (Permits you can pick up same day)

ADDITIONAL PERMITS:

  • Furnace/Water Heater Replacement   
  • Mechanical - (for new build) - use the Building Permit with Type Checked for Mechanical 
  • Plumbing - (for new build) - use the Building permit with the Type checked for Plumbing
  • Electrical - the City of Richmond does not issue electrical permits;  they are issued by the state.   Please contact Luke Nemeth 320-387-3401 

NEW RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION - required permits (it is recommended that the contractor and/or subcontractor take out their own permit)
