Water & Sewer Billing

BILLING INFORMATION

Utility bills are sent out bi monthly.  The meters are read at the end of the month in February, April, June, August, October, and December.  Your statement is sent the week after the reading and payment is due on the first Wednesday of the next month.   

If you are unable to pay your bill on time please contact City Hall to make arrangements or set up a payment plan.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

  1. By Mail.  Mail your check to City of Richmond, PO Box 400, Richmond, MN 
  2. In person.  Bring payment to Richmond City Hall during normal office hours  Monday through Thursday.
  3. Drop Box.  Drop payment in the drop box in entry way of City Hall or right outside the door.
  4. Direct Bill Pay - Complete the form and drop off at City Hall.
  5. Online Utility Bill Pay - Complete the registering as instructed.

MOVING

If you are moving into or out of the City, please notify the Utility Billing Clerk at least a week in advance so that we may update our records and schedule a final meter reading.

RENTAL PROPERTY

The property owner is ultimately responsible for city services to the building.   

DELINQUENT UTILITY BILLS

If your bill is not paid on time you will, receive a late fee and be sent a late/shutoff notice with the date the payment is due to avoid being shut off.  If your water is shut off you will need to pay your payment with an additional $60.00 reconnect fee to get the water turned back on.   If you are unable to pay your bill on time please contact City Hall to make arrangements or set up a payment plan.

WELLS

All city properties must be hooked up to city water and sewer.   Wells are allowed for irrigation only and must meet the city codes for wells.

LEAKAGE & DRIPS

"I can't believe I use this much water!  There must be something wrong with the meter".

If you have ever said or thought this, you can check your meter at home:

Find the meter in your home, Read your meter, fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and then read the meter again.  You should see a change in the meter read.  If the meter reads accurately, it is working properly.
